Introduction
The South East Community Development Council (CDC) was set up on 24 November 2001. Spanning the scenic eastern Coast of Singapore, the South East District is home to more than 551,000 residents. The District includes some of the island’s most vibrant, historical and beautiful neighbourhoods, such as Geylang Serai, Joo Chiat, Bedok and Marine Parade.

The South East District comprises the Marine Parade Group Representative Constituency (GRC), East Coast GRC, Joo Chiat Single Member Constituency (SMC), MacPherson SMC and Potong Pasir SMC.

South East CDC — Your Social Broker

At the helm of South East CDC is Mayor Matthias Yao Chih, who steers community efforts along the three strategic thrusts that guide the work of the CDCs. Called the ‘ABCs of Community Bonding’ — Assisting the Needy, Bonding the People and Connecting the Community — South East CDC initiates and manages programmes in collaboration with both community and corporate partners so as to nurture an active, vibrant and self-reliant community.

South East CDC supports its partners from the schools, grassroots organisations, Voluntary Welfare Organisations and other social service agencies to enable, facilitate and empower ground-up initiatives to bond residents. This is because South East CDC believes and invests in building the capacities of our partners to provide services and implement programmes that will help residents achieve self-reliance in the long run.

South East CDC also plays a bridging role in the District by initiating programmes which allow people of different ages, races and walks of life to interact and connect with one another. Wherever possible, such programmes should achieve a multiplier effect with positive spin-offs that South East CDC can support and replicate over time to involve more of our residents.

Our Vision

An active and vibrant South East District where residents and stakeholders feel a strong sense of belonging.

Our Mission

To nurture and catalyse the community by bonding, bridging, linking and enabling our stakeholders

Our Logo

South East CDC’s logo projects an image of social dynamism and cohesiveness that is ‘friendly and fun’, and seeks to involve and engage both residents and partners, including corporate organisations.

The dynamic ‘S’ (yellow orange), ‘E’ (three blue waves) and circle (illustrating a man) are the key components of South East CDC’s visual identity. Together, they form the primary expression that graphically represents a community of people united as one. The ‘S’ and ‘E’ are also an abbreviation of ‘South East’.

A human element is included in the logo to portray the Organisation as forward-looking. Yellowish orange is used to symbolise a warm and harmonious community in the South East District.

The ‘S’ illustrates that the community is constantly reaching towards a better tomorrow, and so will South East CDC.

The three blue waves exemplify a resilient spirit and strong, deep bond that will stay with the community of the South East District through not only the good times, but during times of adversity as well.
