Community Outreach Programme for the Elderly (COPE) is an initiative to befriend the elderly, raise their awareness on elder healthcare issues, assist in housekeeping, provide escort services and occasional meals, run errands and organise outings for their elderly clients. To date, 9 COPE Teams have been set up by 8 VWOs and its volunteers covering 8 constituencies namely Bedok, Fengshan, Geylang Serai, Kaki Bukit, Kg Ubi Kembangan, Marine Parade & Potong Pasir and serving approximately 4,500 needy elderly.

Safe Home Project is a collaboration between ITE College East and the VWOs. South East CDC linked both partners up and supported them with the aim of improving the living conditions of the frail and needy elderly.

The students, practising what they had learnt in school, installed grab bars, lever taps, shower sets and door latches in elderly homes identified by the VWO volunteers.

In total, this project benefited approximately 80 elderly households . A total of 21 ITE lecturers, 200 ITE students, nine OT professionals, 37 OT students from Nanyang Polytechnic and six staff from PUB participated in the Safe Home Project 2007 .
